Mosaic
Mosaic pushes Cubic Earth to the breaking point. The relief no longer unfolds in gentle slopes: it settles into tesserae, flat shards laid side by side, like earth cracked by drought or a pavement lifted by time.
The surface breathes. Almost smooth at first, it fractures, peaks in a chaos of tiles, then calms and closes again. The work is shown only in still images, so many arrested moments of this breath.
Between two points, nature does not leap: it glides. Here, that gentleness has been taken away. Only three steps remain — low, middle, high — and every passage becomes an edge. Repeated ever finer, then stretched by the current, this staircase becomes a mosaic.
